Our Association
The Maritime Heritage Association is an incorporated not for profit organisation formed in 1989 to unify like-minded people in preserving and promoting the Maritime Heritage of Western Australia. We foster national and international interest in our maritime heritage for the benefit of the local community and visitors.
Aims
- To promote, encourage and support the preservation, restoration and knowledge of Western Australian maritime heritage;
- To provide resources and facilities for employment, education and training in all aspects of maritime heritage.
- To invite and encourage public participation in all these activities.
Activities
- Preservation and restoration of watercraft
- Maritime history and research
- Marine art and ship models
- Publication of a quarterly Journal;
- Recording the Western Australian historical maritime stock of vessels;
- Encouraging their restoration or recording their construction lines;
- Book Club that provides a social forum on old and new maritime publications;
- Lobby for the preservation of vessels and buildings of maritime significance;
- And much more!
